Special Education
YK 1 offers a Challenge program for gifted students and a Structured Success Program to assist emotionally/behaviourally dysfunctional students.
YK 2 offers a four plus program to prepare exceptional students for school entry as well as a Life Skills Program.

Pre-Kindergarten Screening
Pre-Kindergarten screening is done through the Public Health Unit. The public health nurse will check your child's vision, hearing and speech, and update your child's immunizations. Contact the Public Health Unit at 867-920-6570. Children eligible for kindergarten attendance must be five years of age by December 31st of registration year.
Please note there is no Junior Kindergarten in the Yellowknife area.
French Immersion
Dual Track French Immersion is offered through both school boards with the following percentages of the day being offered in French.
Grades K-2 100% Grades 3-8 75% Grades 9-12 50%

Bussing to all the schools within Yellowknife is available through Cardinal Coach Lines (867) 873-4693. Student bus passes are available, but are not subsidized.
